RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a research assistant to support launching a research group in gene therapy. The candidate will be responsible for routine material synthesis, characterization, cell culture, small animal care, as well as assisting with lab operations and maintenance. The candidate will also be expected to participate in an independent gene therapy research project that matches on the candidate's skills, interests, and estimated duration of hire.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, pharmaceutics, or in a related field, with at least 1 year of laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, pharmaceutics, or in a related discipline, with 2+ years of laboratory experience in the fields of biology, microfabrication, or drug delivery.

GRADUATE (PhD and Master's) / PharmD STUDENTS

Job Description: We are seeking highly motivated graduate and PharmD students to participate in research activities in the laboratory. Students are expected to work in the laboratory towards a successful thesis on project(s) relating to gene therapy applications in ocular disease or cancer. Students will learn the techniques associated with preparing and characterizing gene delivery nano- and microparticles, their in vitro validation, and in vivo applications with various mouse models. Students will be expected to present their findings in lab meetings, institutional seminars, and professional conferences, as well as publish in scientific journals. Students with interest and/or previous involvement in nanomedicine and gene delivery research are highly encouraged to apply.
